February 2025 – Pattern adjustments with Alex Pemberton
Our honorary member Alex walked us through her system of approaching pattern alterations. From comparing pattern and body measurements, to adjusting the pattern before cutting it out in muslin, to refining the fit in 3D, Alex talked about her experiences with various fitting approaches and how to choose what works best for each of us. She also shared her favorite pattern-drafting and fitting books, together with other resources. Near the end, she showed us a small sample of what’s possible – dresses, tops, and cardigans all made from one well-fitted pattern, with different details added. This meeting was held on Zoom, so weather would not be a factor and Alex joined us from Colorado.
